Job summary

Role Description The Support Worker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Falkirk. In this role, the Support Worker provides practical and emotional support to individuals in their homes, assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, and light household duties. The Support Worker helps people maintain independence by encouraging choice, supporting mobility, and promoting social engagement in the community. This position involves closely following personalised care plans, documenting observations, and communicating concerns to supervisors or multidisciplinary teams. The Support Worker is expected to uphold high standards of dignity, respect, and confidentiality while working flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet service needs.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and the ability to build trust with individuals and families.
  • Candidates should possess care and support skills such as assisting with personal care, safe moving and handling, and supporting independence in daily living activities.
  • Candidates should possess organizational and record-keeping skills, including time management, accurate documentation, and the ability to follow care plans and procedures.
  • Candidates should possess basic health and safety awareness, including infection prevention, safeguarding knowledge, and risk awareness in home environments.
  • Relevant experience in social care, home care, or support work is beneficial but not always essential where strong values and willingness to learn are demonstrated.
  • A relevant social care qualification (such as SVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one is advantageous.
  • Ability to work reliably in the community, including access to suitable transport where required, and flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Eligibility to register with the Scottish social care regulatory body (e.g., SSSC) and willingness to undergo background and reference checks.
