Job summary

1st Homecare in Dumfries is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help vulnerable adults live safely at home. You will assist with daily living tasks, provide personal care, prepare meals, and support with medications while building meaningful relationships in the community.

We offer flexible full-time, part-time and bank/relief shifts, with a 40p per mile mileage allowance, paid holidays, and comprehensive training.

Qualifications

  • No prior care experience is required.
  • Willing to work on a rota basis, including alternate weekends.
  • A PVG check will be required for successful applicants.
  • Full training and ongoing support provided.

Shift Options

We offer a variety of shift patterns to help you balance work with your lifestyle:

  • Bank/Relief: Flexible, ad‑hoc shifts based on your availability (submitted monthly)

Shift examples include:

  • 4 on / 4 off pattern (part‑time hours)

  • 7:00am – 1:30pm
  • 3:30pm – 9:30pm

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to people in their own homes. You’ll support individuals with a variety of daily living tasks, including:

  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Meal preparation and serving
  • Medication prompts and administration
  • Catheter care
  • Companionship and emotional support
