Job summary

Orbis Education & Care is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for Blaen Y Waun, Carmarthenshire. You will assist adults with emotional, social and physical needs in a safe environment, acting as a role model to promote independence and well-being. Training is provided and a driving licence is essential.

The role includes sleep-ins, weekend shifts and opportunities for funded qualifications within a supportive team at Blaen Y Waun and Ty Canol nearby.

Qualifications

  • Compassionate, resilient and caring nature.
  • A valid driving licence is essential.
  • Flexibility to work shifts including sleep-ins and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous care experience is helpful but not essential. Full training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Support adults with emotional, social and physical needs in a safe, caring environment.
  • Act as a positive role model to encourage independence and personal development.
  • Support with social, leisure, educational and community-based activities.
  • Tailor support to individual needs and person-centred plans.
  • Record progress, activities and incidents clearly and accurately.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as meals and household duties to promote independence.
  • Provide support at Ty Canol, the second home nearby.

A Day in the Life of a Support Worker at Blaen Y Waun


  • Supporting adults with their emotional, social, and physical needs in a safe, caring environment.

  • Acting as a positive role model, encouraging independence, confidence, and personal development.

  • Supporting with social, leisure, educational, and community-based activities.

  • Tailoring support to meet individual needs, preferences, and person-centred support plans.

What You'll Need as a Support Worker at Blaen Y Waun


  • A compassionate, resilient, and caring nature.

Please note: This role involves working with vulnerable adults and requires an Enhanced DBS check.
