Job summary

Voyage Care in Cambridge is hiring a Support Worker to help people gain independence in daily living. You’ll work with a team to support individuals with varying needs, including autism and brain injury, in a dynamic service on Suez Rd in Cambridge CB1.

The role emphasises compassionate, practical support, personal care, and assisting people to access their local community and activities. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• UK driving licence is required.
• Experience with autism, brain injury or complex behaviours is desirable.
• Experience following Positive Behaviour Support plans and reflective practice.
• All applicants will require DBS checks and references.

Responsibilities

• Help people gain more independence in daily life as part of a supportive team.
• Assist with personal care and encourage access to local community and activities.
• Join outings and activities, from community events to leisure like films or games.

As a support worker with us you'll be helping people to gain more independence in their daily lives, whilst working within a dynamic team to support a fantastic group of people!

Our Suez Rd supported living service in Cambridge CB1 area is a welcoming and friendly environment and you can be sure that no two days will be the same! You'll be enhancing the lives of the people we support by teaching them new life skills, assisting with personal care, encouraging them to access their local communities, socialising and doing lots of activities. One day you could be out with the people we support in the community, the next you could be unwinding with them playing video games, watching films or going to the cinema.

This is an amazing role for someone who is looking to really make a difference to someone's life and to help them grow in confidence and independence so that they meet their goals, whether this be making dinner by themselves or going on holiday.

This is why at this service our Support Workers should hold a full UK driving license, be resilient, flexible and composed in their approach, have experience with following Positive Behaviour Support plans and reflective practice as well as experience working with individuals with autism, acquired brain injury, complex individuals with mental health needs, traumatic backgrounds and challenging behaviours.
