Job summary

Together for Mental Wellbeing is seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to assist adults with mental health issues within our community services. This role includes a rota covering days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins, with a sleep-in allowance of £72.85 per sleep-in and a permanent contract.

You will support individuals to engage with the service, develop recovery-focused plans and work collaboratively to empower choices while maintaining a safe, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals in paid or voluntary settings or life experience.
• GCSE or Level II English qualification or equivalent.
• Proficient use of email and word processing software.
• Demonstrate a non-judgemental, empathetic attitude and ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals to engage in the service and achieve goals through person-centred planning and recovery-focused interventions.
• Act as a flexible, personalised support navigator to utilise available resources creatively.
• Empower individuals to exercise choice, and develop and review safety and recovery plans.

Key Responsibilities

• As a mental health support worker, you will support individuals to engage in the service and to achieve their goals and aspirations through individual key work, targeted recovery outcome focused interventions and person-centred planning
• You will provide support utilising your fully flexible and personalised approach and act as a support navigator to make creative use of the resources available
• As a mental health support worker, you will empower individuals to exercise choice and control and work alongside people to develop and review robust assessments, safety management plans and recovery support plans.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

• Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals gained from paid work and/or voluntary and/or life experience
• Minimum of GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent
• Basic competence in the use of email and word processing software
• Demonstrate a non-judgemental attitude and able to be empathetic towards service users and create a trusting environment
• Able to work in partnership with services users and establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with service users
• Able to establish and maintain a safe environment
• Willing and able to undertake domestic tasks with, and for, service users as necessary
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills relating to welfare benefits, education and relationships
• Open to - and willing to participate in - formal and informal job-related learning
• Willing and able to collaborate with colleagues and other organisations
• Able to use email and computerised systems for service user records and reports
• Able to travel; have access to car/public transport
• Able to work a varying pattern of shifts on a 24 hour 7-day week rota, with notice

Desirable

• Lived experience of mental distress
• NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
