Job summary

Together UK in Hospital Road is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Operations team. You will provide compassionate support to adults with mental health issues, helping them engage with services and work toward personal goals on a flexible rota.

This role involves day, evening, weekend shifts including sleep-ins with a fixed allowance, no personal care duties, and a permanent contract. A positive attitude and commitment to our values are essential, with opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals in paid, voluntary, or life experience.
  • GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent.
  • Basic competence in using email and word processing software.
  • Demonstrate a non-judgemental attitude and empathy toward service users.
  • Able to work with service users and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willing to undertake domestic tasks for service users as needed.
  • Open to learning and job-related training.
  • Willing to collaborate with colleagues and organisations.
  • Able to travel or have access to transport.
  • Willing to work a 24/7 rota with notice.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals to engage in the service and achieve goals via key work and recovery planning.
  • Provide flexible, personalised support and act as a navigator to resources.
  • Empower individuals to exercise choice and review safety and recovery plans.

This role involves working a rota which covers days, evenings, weekends, sleep ins and bank holidays. Sleep-in shift allowance of £72.85 paid for each sleep-in. No personal care involved. Permanent contract

Key Responsibilities
  • As a mental health support worker, you will support individuals to engage in the service and to achieve their goals and aspirations through individual key work, targeted recovery outcome focused interventions and person-centred planning
  • You will provide support utilising your fully flexible and personalised approach and act as a support navigator to make creative use of the resources available
  • As a mental health support worker, you will empower individuals to exercise choice and control and work alongside people to develop and review robust assessments, safety management plans and recovery support plans.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals gained from paid work and/or voluntary and/or life experience
  • Minimum of GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent
  • Basic competence in the use of email and word processing software
  • Demonstrate a non-judgemental attitude and able to be empathetic towards service users and create a trusting environment
  • Able to work in partnership with services users and establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with service users
  • Able to establish and maintain a safe environment
  • Willing and able to undertake domestic tasks with, and for, service users as necessary
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills relating to welfare benefits, education and relationships
  • Open to - and willing to participate in - formal and informal job-related learning
  • Willing and able to collaborate with colleagues and other organisations
  • Able to use email and computerised systems for service user records and reports
  • Able to travel; have access to car/public transport
  • Able to work a varying pattern of shifts on a 24 hour 7-day week rota, with notice

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental distress
  • NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
