Job summary

Together for Mental Wellbeing is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join a recovery-based service for adults with mental health needs. The role involves a 24/7 rota including days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins, with a sleep-in allowance of £72.85 per sleep-in and no personal care required.

This is a permanent contract. You will engage individuals to achieve goals through person-centred planning, deliver flexible support, and assist in developing safety and recovery plans

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals in paid work, voluntary roles, or life experience.
  • Demonstrates a non-judgemental attitude and ability to build trust with service users.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in formal and informal training.

Responsibilities

  • As a mental health support worker, you will support individuals to engage in the service and to achieve their goals and aspirations through individual key work, targeted recovery outcome focused interventions and person-centred planning.
  • You will provide support utilizing a fully flexible and personalised approach and act as a support navigator to make creative use of the resources available.
  • As a mental health support worker, you will empower individuals to exercise choice and control and work alongside people to develop and review robust assessments, safety management plans and recovery support plans.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals gained from paid work and/or voluntary and/or life experience
  • Minimum of GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent
  • Basic competence in the use of email and word processing software
  • Demonstrate a non-judgemental attitude and able to be empathetic towards service users and create a trusting environment
  • Able to work in partnership with services users and establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with service users
  • Able to establish and maintain a safe environment
  • Willing and able to undertake domestic tasks with, and for, service users as necessary
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills relating to welfare benefits, education and relationships
  • Open to - and willing to participate in - formal and informal job-related learning
  • Willing and able to collaborate with colleagues and other organisations
  • Able to use email and computerised systems for service user records and reports
  • Able to travel; have access to car/public transport
  • Able to work a varying pattern of shifts on a 24 hour 7-day week rota, with notice

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental distress
  • NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
