Job summary

ALDINGBOURNE TRUST is seeking a Senior Support Worker to lead a Supported Living team. You will supervise Support Workers, deliver person-centred care, and help adults with learning disabilities and autism achieve independence and meaningful lives.

Join a service focused on trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and continuous improvement while working evenings, weekends, and occasional sleep-ins. You will work with the Supported Living Manager to ensure safe, high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Experience working within a regulated social care setting.
  • Good understanding of person-centred support and promoting independence.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and support colleagues.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts.

  • Support the induction and development of new staff.
  • Promote effective communication and teamwork across the service.
  • Support colleagues to understand trauma and its impact, fostering trauma-informed practice.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, support audits and quality checks.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns and incidents are reported appropriately.
  • Help maintain compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Assist with staff rotas and workforce planning.

Job description

30 hours per week. Including weekdays, evenings and every other weekend. Sleep in's will also be required and are paid as an additional payment.

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and proactive Senior Support Worker to join our Supported Living team, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism to live independent, fulfilling, and meaningful lives.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital leadership role within the service, providing hands-on support while guiding and mentoring Support Workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. You will work closely with the Supported Living Manager to ensure the service operates safely, effectively, and in line with CQC standards.

Championing Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Support colleagues to understand the impact trauma can have on behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Encourage consistent, predictable, and relationship-based support.
  • Model trauma-informed approaches in everyday practice.
Ensuring Quality and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Support audits, quality checks, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns, incidents, and complaints are reported appropriately.
  • Help maintain compliance with CQC regulations and organisational policies.
Supporting Service Operations
  • Assist with staff rotas and workforce planning.
  • Help coordinate shift cover during sickness, annual leave, and emergencies.
  • Work closely with the Manager to ensure safe staffing levels and high-quality service delivery.
What We're Looking For
Essential
  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Experience working within a regulated social care setting
  • Good understanding of person-centred support and promoting independence
  • Knowledge of adult safeguarding
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead by example and positively support colleagues
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Competent IT and administrative skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts where required
  • Aged 18 or over
