Support Worker at Turning Point

At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England.

As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference to residents' lives by helping to improve their daily living skills. If you are passionate about people, you will enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career, gaining valuable experience and training.

Where will I be working?

Our services in Clayton provide 24-hour care for adults with Learning Disabilities and additional health issues. We are looking for individuals to support a young gentleman.

About Me

I am a male, 18 years old, with autism, a learning disability, and limited capacity to make decisions. I have complex health needs and require full support from my support workers for all aspects of my care. I value a staff team that understands my conditions, is patient, and provides consistent support throughout the day, engaging in activities I enjoy. I am non-verbal but can communicate with cards. I attend school five times a week.

Role Responsibilities
What will I be doing?

This role is hands-on and varied. Your duties will include:

  • Promoting independence
  • Supporting daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, outings, and holidays
  • Organizing activities within the home and community
  • Developing life skills and personal interests
  • Ensuring safety and health
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Supporting medication administration, including creams and lotions
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring

What skills and qualities do I need?

Knowledge of learning disabilities is beneficial but not essential. The key qualities include:

  • Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
  • Flexible, patient, and non-judgemental
  • A great team player with energy
  • Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks
  • Experience in helping manage anxiety is a plus
