Job description

CAMHS Support Worker Band 4

This is an exciting opportunity to become a valued member of our passionate, supportive, and highly experienced teams within the Child and Adolescent services.

The role will be based with the Crisis Team.

The Crisis Team offers a follow-up service to young people (YP) under 18 who have presented with a mental health crisis at hospital or from the First Response Service. We also provide short-term intervention work, brief intervention, and risk management support to those stepping down from tier 4 care.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Work as part of the CAMHS team to provide safe and compassionate care to children and young people, maximizing their recovery and treatment plans.
  2. Support children and young people’s emotional wellbeing under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals within a mental health setting.
  3. Provide 1-1 or group work to children, young people, and their families requiring additional mental health support, under a care-coordinator’s supervision.
  4. Work with vulnerable and risky children and young people under the direct supervision of a care-coordinator or line manager.
  5. Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships, adopting a positive and empathetic approach, and communicating effectively.
  6. Work within an agreed care plan, risk assessment, and crisis and contingency plans.
  7. Seek support as necessary from registered professionals, care coordinators, or management.
  8. Demonstrate a basic understanding of care/treatment interventions for children and young people in a mental health setting.
