We’re on the hunt for genuinely caring, hands‑on Support Workers with a passion for enhancing the quality of life of the people we support. As a support worker with us you'll be enabling an individual to gain more independence in their daily life, whilst working within a dynamic team to support someone on their recovery pathway.
Our residential care home in Birtley is a welcoming and friendly environment, and you can be sure that no two days will be the same! You’ll be part of a bespoke team delivering support for an individual moving to a self‑contained environment within the grounds of the residential service. You’ll be enhancing the life of the person we support by supporting them to develop new life skills, assisting with personal care, encouraging them to access their local community and build a meaningful life. One day you could be out with the person supported in the local community, the next you could be unwinding with them playing games or watching films.
This is an amazing opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in someone's life and supporting them to grow in confidence and independence. You'll enable the individual to achieve their personal goals, whether that's learning to prepare a meal independently, developing new skills, accessing their local community, or even planning and enjoying a holiday. Working one-to-one within the service and providing 2:1 support whilst out in the community, you will be confident in thinking on your feet, creative in your approach, and enthusiastic about planning and leading engaging activities. You will provide encouragement, build a positive and trusting relationship, and deliver recovery-focused support that empowers the person to settle in their new home with support from a team with empathy and compassion.
We’re interested in our Support Workers having both the right experience and the right values. This is why at this service our Support Workers should hold a full UK driving license, be resilient, flexible and composed in their approach, have experience with following Positive Behaviour Support plans and reflective practice as well as experience working with autistic individuals and people with mental health conditions.
