Job summary

Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative is seeking a Female Support Worker for Bangor/Bethesda on a permanent basis. Part-time or full-time hours are available, with weekend shifts.

The role involves supporting individuals to make choices, set goals, and participate in activities that build confidence and skills. You will provide practical support to help with daily living tasks, paying bills, home care, and staying connected with friends and family.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; full training provided.
  • Patience and empathy are essential.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are important.
  • Welsh language desirable; female role due to occupational requirement.
  • Must have a full driving licence and own car; mileage paid 55p per mile.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in making everyday choices and setting personal goals.
  • Empower service users to participate in structured activities to build confidence and skills.
  • Assist with responsibilities such as paying bills, maintaining homes, and staying connected with others.
  • Support with intimate personal care with respect and dignity.
  • Transport individuals to appointments and activities as required, using your own car where applicable.

We have both part time and full time hours, please speak to us about the hours you are looking to do. Your shift pattern will include weekends.

Salary

£13.59 per hour, our travel expenses is paid 55p per mile

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll actively support individuals in making their own choices and set their own goals — whether it’s everyday decisions like what to wear, eat, or do, or something bigger such as where to live, how to manage their finances, or where to go on holiday.

As a trusted Support Worker, you’ll empower people to follow through on these choices, including taking part in structured activities that build confidence and develop new skills. You’ll also offer practical support to help them meet responsibilities like paying bills, maintaining their homes, being good neighbours, and staying connected with friends and family.

Your goal is to make everyday remarkablethrough enhancing well-being and focusing on the small, meaningful moments that bring joy and purpose. By offering this kind of person‑centred support every day, this truly is a fun and rewarding role for the right person.

No experience required as full training is provided. We’d love to hear from you if you:
  • have patience and empathy
  • can support a person with their intimate personal care with respect and dignity
  • have strong communication and teamwork skills
  • are able to speak on behalf of others as well as to a range of professional people
  • have good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning
  • have afull driving licence - essentialfor transporting individuals to appointments and activities
  • have access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
  • being fluent in Welshis desirable, so you can effectively communicate with Welsh-speaking service users and meet their cultural and linguistic needs.
  • are female (this is a genuine occupational requirement due to the nature of the role)
