Job summary

Cornerstone is seeking a part-time Support Practitioner to help people with disabilities in Motherwell and Wishaw. The role covers practical daily living tasks, attending activities, and supporting attendance at college.

You will assist with swimming, gym, trips to cinema and meals, with flexible shift patterns. Full UK manual driving license required; paid training and SVQ/S SSC registration support offered.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; full training provided.
  • Must be confident around water and able to support swimming activities.
  • Must have a full UK manual driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Join in swimming, gym, bowling, cinema trips and activity clubs.
  • Support college attendance and accompany daily activities.
  • Assist with everyday tasks: shopping, cooking, appointments, finances, medication, household tasks and personal care.

Join #TeamNLCS and make a real difference in the lives of young people and adults with disabilities and additional support needs across Motherwell and Wishaw! We have a permanent 16-hour-per-week opportunity available.

What will you be doing?
  • Swimming
  • Going to the gym
  • Bowling
  • Cinema trips
  • Activity clubs
  • Supporting college attendance
  • Going out for meals or to the pub

You'll also provide support with everyday tasks such as shopping, cooking, appointments, finances, medication, household tasks and personal care.

You'll need to be confident in and around water, as swimming is a regular activity for one of the people we support. Due to the needs of the service, we will also need you to have full UK manual drivers licence.

Shift patterns

We understand that our colleagues like to have a good work/life balance, so we try to be as flexible as possible with our shift patterns. Our team currently deliver support between the hours of 0830-2100 hours. Shift length can be anything between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the needs of the person you will be supporting.

We are looking to fill these vacancies as soon as possible so reserve the right to close our advert early if we find suitable candidates before the closing date.

Please note - If if you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.

If you're successful in joining our team, you will be expected to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and must be willing to work towards a SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. We will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
