Job summary

Cornerstone Community Care in Kilbirnie seeks a part-time care assistant to support a young man in his home. You will provide daily living assistance, engage in his interests, and help him maintain independence with a flexible, 30-hour work week.

No prior experience is required as full training is provided. You'll join a supportive team, complete PVG checks, and work toward an SVQ while benefiting from a structured development plan.

We're on the look out for enthusiastic and reliable new colleagues to complete our amazing #TeamNewhouse in Kilbirnie on a permanent part-time (up to 30 hours per week) basis.

Our team and the individuals you'll support

You’ll become part of a fun and friendly team who support a young man in his own home. The great thing about this job is no two days are ever the same! Your main aim will be to support the individual with all aspects of daily living and be enthusiastic about supporting his interests.

He loves dancing to music at the local discos, going to museums and playing a few rounds at the crazy golf. For a bit of relaxing time he enjoys chilling out and spending time on his tablet. Routine is important so you will need to be comfortable supporting him with this and guiding where necessary.

As the gentleman we support has his own mobility car, we are specifically looking for a driver with a minimum of one years' experience on the roads.

About You

You don't need experience to start your career with us; we recruit on values and we'll give you all the training you'll need if you're successful. We'll even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualification too!

All we’ll need you to bring is: -

• Confidence to go in the water, as swimming is a regular activity
• Confidence in the use of computers

Shift Patterns

Our service provides 24/7 care and shift patterns will usually fall into patterns of one shift of 1000-1100 hours the following day (includes a sleepover) and will include weekend and public holidays on a rotational basis.

The sleepover part of your shift isn't included in your contracted hours, so you will receive an additional £100.80 for each sleepover worked.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.

If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.

Please note - If you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.
