Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a patient and resilient Education Assistant to provide one-to-one and small-group support in the Nurture Unit. You will help students with learning, confidence and engagement, and work with teachers to meet individual needs.

Experience working with children or young people in school or pastoral settings is advantageous; the role offers a chance to build a career in education, SEND or pastoral support.

  • Help students manage emotions, behaviour and challenging situations.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Support social skills, independence and resilience.
  • Assist with classroom activities and learning tasks.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to meet individual needs.
  • Help reintegrate students into mainstream lessons where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour in a calm, structured environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Job description

The Role:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students within the Nurture Unit.
  • Supporting students with their learning, confidence and engagement.
  • Helping students to manage emotions, behaviour and challenging situations.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Supporting students to develop their social skills, independence and resilience.
  • Assisting with classroom activities and learning tasks.
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support individual student needs.
  • Helping students to successfully reintegrate into mainstream lessons where appropriate.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm, structured environment.

The successful candidate will be patient, approachable and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Experience working with children or young people in a school, pastoral, SEND, behaviour or youth-work setting would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.

This role would suit someone who is looking to build a career within education, SEND or pastoral support and wants to make a real difference to students' lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
