Job summary

Nycil is seeking a caring support assistant in Scarborough to help a visually impaired gentleman live independently. The role requires a vehicle and a full UK driving licence, as well as comfort with a guide dog accompanying the gentleman.

You will assist with daily activities, travel to appointments, and ensure a safe and friendly environment. Holiday allowance and travel expenses are covered, with a pay rate of £16.29 per hour plus mileage allowance.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS check is essential.

Overview

We are looking for a caring and considerate person to support a visually impaired gentleman to live his life as independently as possible. The support assistant must have their own vehicle and a full, clean UK driving licence. The gentleman has a guide dog that will accompany him, so the successful applicant must be OK with the assistance dog travelling in their car.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to enable the gentleman to carry out daily activities and maintain his independence.
• Assist with travel, appointments and any tasks that require mobility or navigation support.
• Ensure a safe and friendly environment for both the gentleman and his guide dog.

Qualifications

• Own vehicle and full, clean UK driving licence.
• Comfortable with a guide dog travelling in the vehicle.
• Car and enhanced DBS essential.
• Experience: Driving licence (preferred).
• Part‑time, Permanent role – up to 8 hours per week on a rota system with potential extra hours to cover holidays and sickness of other staff.
