Job description

Supply Chain Planning & Projects Manager

East Anglia | Hybrid working (typically 3 days on site) | Less than 1 hour from Bury St Edmunds, Bishop’s Stortford, Cambridge

Are you looking for a role where you can genuinely shape how a supply chain function operates - not simply maintain an established process?

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, premium consumer food-production business at an important point in its journey. The company has moved beyond start-up mode and is investing heavily in its next phase of UK and European expansion. For the right person, it offers visibility, ownership and the chance to build scalable planning capability in an ambitious, high-performance environment.

You will take ownership of supply chain planning while leading and coordinating projects that directly support growth: from new product and packaging launches to capacity planning, systems development and international supply chain set-up.

What’s in it for you?
  • Real ownership:You will be trusted to take the lead on planning routines, tools and improvement activity, with scope to make a visible difference from day one.
  • High-impact work:Your work will help determine how the business scales manufacturing, launches into new markets and manages increasing product complexity.
  • Exposure and progression:You will work closely with senior leaders (founder and CEO, and Head of Supply Chain) across supply chain, operations and the wider business, creating a strong platform for future progression into procurement, operations, European expansion or broader leadership roles.
  • A chance to build, not just inherit:There is a planning tool already in development, but plenty of opportunity to refine processes, introduce better ways of working and help shape future systems investment.
  • Pace with purpose:This will suit someone energised by change, accountability and solving meaningful operational challenges rather than working in a slow-moving corporate structure.
  • A supportive leadership style:You will report into a manager who values independent thinking, practical solutions and people who take responsibility - without micromanagement.
  • Recognition and culture:The business has a strong emphasis on celebrating contribution, with regular peer recognition and visible appreciation for people who make an impact.
The opportunity:

As Supply Chain Planning & Projects Manager, you will become a key part of a developing supply chain team supporting a rapidly expanding manufacturing operation.

Your role will combine hands‑on planning ownership with project leadership. You will ensure the business has clear, reliable forward visibility of demand, supply, capacity and risk - while coordinating the initiatives needed to keep pace with growth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Owning and continuously improving supply chain planning processes, routines and outputs.
  • Developing robust forward-looking plans that identify capacity constraints, risks and opportunities well ahead of time.
  • Supporting S&OP-style planning, helping operations and leadership make informed decisions around production, resource and capacity requirements.
  • Enhancing an existing planning tool and helping define the future systems and data requirements for the function.
  • Managing and coordinating supply‑chain‑related projects, including new product introductions, packaging developments, process improvements and operational change.
  • Supporting the supply chain set‑up for new international markets, including inventory positioning, transport flows, storage and service considerations.
  • Bringing structure, consistency and clarity to a growing function.
  • Working closely with procurement, operations, commercial teams and senior stakeholders to ensure plans are practical and aligned.
  • Presenting issues with well‑thought‑through options and recommendations, rather than simply escalating problems.
What we’re looking for:

You will be an experienced supply chain planning professional who enjoys combining analytical thinking with practical delivery.

We would be particularly interested in speaking with people who have:

  • A strong background in supply chain planning, demand planning, production planning or supply planning.
  • Experience within food, food manufacturing, FMCG or another fast‑paced consumer‑products environment.
  • The confidence to independently own planning activity and improve processes without needing close direction.
  • Project management experience - whether through a formal role or through successfully delivering cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
  • A structured, diligent and detail‑focused approach, alongside the ability to see the wider commercial and operational picture.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management skills and the credibility to work effectively with operational teams and senior business leaders.
  • The resilience and curiosity to thrive in a changing, high‑expectation scale‑up environment.
  • A degree or equivalent professional experience is advantageous.

This is likely to suit someone with substantial planning experience who now wants more autonomy, broader responsibility and the opportunity to help build something significant.

Package:
  • Competitive salary, likely in the£50,000 - £57,000range depending on experience (more if you can justify it)
  • Performance‑related annual bonus
  • Pension and strong holiday allowance
  • Birthday day off
  • Hybrid working, with regular on‑site presence
  • Potential for longer‑term development and reward as the business continues to scale
