Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing

TXM Recruit is recruiting a Supply Chain & Planning Manager on behalf of an established aerospace and defence manufacturer supplying mission-critical products to customers worldwide.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an end-to-end supply chain and planning function, leading the team responsible for purchasing, material availability, production planning, supplier performance and inventory control.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will combine practical leadership with strategic improvement, ensuring production has the materials and plans needed to meet customer commitments.

The Role
  • Lead and develop the Supply Chain and Planning team, setting clear priorities and strengthening accountability.
  • Own demand, supply, inventory and production planning, aligning material availability with production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance across delivery, quality, cost and lead times, implementing improvement plans where required.
  • Identify material shortages, supplier risks and capacity constraints, coordinating recovery plans to protect delivery.
  • Improve inventory accuracy, reduce excess and obsolete stock, and optimise working capital.
  • Support strategic sourcing, dual sourcing and make‑versus‑buy decisions to improve supply continuity and cost performance.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance and Project Management to support programme milestones and resolve delivery challenges.
  • Use ERP/MRP data and reporting tools to improve planning, reduce overdue orders and drive measurable operational improvements.
About You
  • A strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems, production planning, purchasing and inventory control.
  • Experience improving supplier performance and resolving material availability issues in a time‑critical environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the confidence to turn data into clear priorities and actions.
  • Commercial awareness and a practical, hands‑on approach to improving delivery, cost and stock performance.
  • A calm, structured leadership style and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Experience in aerospace, defence, regulated manufacturing or high‑mix, low‑volume production would be advantageous. CIPS, APICS or a relevant supply chain or operations qualification would be desirable, although not essential.

The Opportunity

You will have broad responsibility across supply chain and planning, with the opportunity to develop your team and directly influence customer delivery, supplier reliability and manufacturing performance within the aerospace and defence sector
