About the Role
Polytec are looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead Purchasing, Planning, and Supplier Quality Engineering teams for a complex electro-mechanical manufacturing operation based in Ely.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement supply chain strategies that connect activities across Purchasing, Planning and Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) teams to streamline processes, improve productivity, optimise flow, and minimise inventory costs.
- Negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance and strategically develop the vendor base to support the steady introduction of new products, applications, and technologies.
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, focusing on key product lines, OEM customers, and new product releases.
- Motivate team members and conduct regular appraisals or one-to-one meetings.
- Communicate goals and objectives to team members and ensure resource allocation is adequate.
- Communicate team briefs regularly to all team members.
Requirements
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- MCIPS or other recognised supply chain management qualification.
- Previous supply chain management experience, preferably in electronics or similar scientific manufacturing industry.
- Experience in Supplier quality development.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Solid knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) would be beneficial.
- Understanding of Lean principles and practical implementation within the supply chain.
- Strong organisation and project management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP supply chain software (e.g., Microsoft D365) and MS Office.
