Job summary

KeolisAmey Metrolink is seeking a proactive Supply Chain Coordinator for a 9-12 month maternity cover contract. You will support procurement strategy, supplier management and inventory forecasting to ensure timely delivery of parts and equipment for a high-performing rail operation.

  • Knowledge of transport/rail industry delivery is desirable.
  • Experience in contract compliance and managing business risk is desirable.
  • Able to work in a process-driven environment with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the SSCM and procurement in developing and executing purchasing strategies across Engineering disciplines.
  • Build strong supplier relationships and regularly review performance, cost and reliability.
  • Use forecasting tools to check stock demand and analyze data for buying decisions.
  • Create and manage purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Collaborate with Stores to monitor stock levels and maintain inventory.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure items are purchased at the right time and manage replacements.
  • Lead import/export management and support improvements with 3rd party logistics providers.
  • Be the main contact for internal PPE requests and manage supplier purchasing.

Join our team at KeolisAmey Metrolink (KAM), the largest light rail network in the UK!

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Supply Chain Coordinator to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the right materials, parts, and equipment are available when they're needed most.

Working alongside our Stock & Supply Chain Manager (SSCM), you'll have the chance to influence processes, drive continuous improvement, and make a visible impact on the performance of a critical public transport operation.

Please note, this is a maternity cover contract expected to last 9-12 months.

Key accountabilities will include:
  • Assist the SSCM and procurement department in developing and executing purchasing strategies across all Engineering disciplinaries within the organisation.
  • Build strong supplier relationships and regularly review performance, cost and reliability to help drive quality, efficiency and value across the supply chain.
  • Using forecasting tools to check stock demand for upcoming orders and analyse purchasing and inventory data to inform buying decisions and strategies, performing cost-benefit analysis to support strategic sourcing decisions and negotiations.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of products.
  • Working closely with the Stores team to monitor stock levels and assist in maintaining optimal inventory to meet demand.
  • Collaborate with different departments to ensure the right items are purchased at the right time, including managing replacement products and removing outdated stock.
  • Working closely with department technicians, understanding repairs requirements, managing parts system movements, and all supplier coordination, including import & export activity
  • Taking the lead within import/export management, assisting with ongoing improvements to include 3rd party logistics providers.
  • Be the main point of contact for internal PPE requests, manage the purchasing from suppliers and tracking through the system.
What you'll bring:
  • Certification in Procurement (e.g., CIPS or similar) or willing to work towards with relevant experience.
  • Experience working within a complex supply chain environment, or a similar role is required.
  • An understanding of procurement processes including familiarity with ERP/WMS systems.
  • Knowledge of the transport, or rail industry, with a focus on delivery is desirable.
  • Experience of working within contract compliance and assessing/minimising business risk is desirable.
  • An understanding of a complex material supply chain environment with safety critical implications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Experience of working within a process driven environment, with the ability to manage own workload.
  • Strong attention to detail to maintain accuracy in sourcing and procurement processes.
