Role Overview: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)
Joining their dynamic quality team based South of Birmingham, my client is looking for a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to audit, qualify & assess both existing and new suppliers for the business in order to drive both operational efficiency and supply chain improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Auditing, verifying and qualifying both new and existing suppliers to drive our client's operational efficiencies & contribute to supply chain improvement.
· Supplier Audits & Compliance Checks
Plan and conduct supplier audits (initial, process, surveillance) to ensure alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) requirements.
· Supplier Onboarding & Approvals
Qualify new suppliers through structured assessments, verifying capability, quality systems, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
· Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions
Lead structured problem-solving, ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions are implemented to resolve quality issues.
· Technical Documentation Review
Review supplier-submitted weld procedures, inspection records, and material certifications to validate compliance with customer and regulatory expectations.
· Continuous Improvement & Risk Mitigation
Drive supplier development through process improvement initiatives, quality metrics, and proactive risk management.
· Please note that this role will require 60% of the week away from home. Travel can be across the UK & Europe.
Requirements:
· At least 3 years' experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role, or similar experience auditing suppliers (new and existing).
· Degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering or similar.
· Experience conducting audits & quality inspection for: fabrication, welding, CNC machines alongside production & assembly lines.
· Our client will only consider candidates with experience from the following industries: HVAC, Manufacturing, Automotive, Aerospace.
· Happy with frequent travel away from home.
