Job summary

Sureserve Compliance North West is seeking a supervisory leader for field-based gas engineers covering domestic heating and gas maintenance contracts. Manage performance, safety and quality, while mentoring engineers and apprentices to uphold high standards.

You will drive operational excellence, mobilise contracts, build client relations, attend meetings and ensure timely, compliant gas works across deployments.

Qualifications

• Valid domestic and/or commercial gas qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1).
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Experience in gas maintenance within a domestic capacity.
• Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in gas/utilities housing.
• Solid understanding of gas safety regulations and industry standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• A professional and friendly attitude with client/tenant relations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of field-based gas engineers and guide fault diagnosis and installations.
• Ensure health and safety compliance, manage risk assessments and Gas Safe regulations.
• Oversee performance, attendance, quality, and productivity to meet KPIs and contractual obligations.
• Support contract mobilisation, client relations, meetings, and issue resolution.
• Translate business objectives into operational success and development.

Job description

Lead a team of field-based Gas Engineers across a range of domestic heating and gas maintenance contracts. Deliver safe, high-quality services while supporting and developing engineers in the field. You'll be responsible for ensuring all gas works are completed efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standards, while driving performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across your contracts.

What you'll be doing

• Work closely with engineers, clients, and internal stakeholders, providing technical guidance, support complex fault diagnosis and installations, and carry out quality assurance checks and post-inspection audits
• Take ownership of health and safety compliance, ensuring teams follow safe working practices, risk assessments, and Gas Safe regulations at all times.
• Lead regular toolbox talks, mentor engineers and apprentices, and help create a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

As a Supervisor, you'll have full operational responsibility for your contracts, managing engineer performance, attendance, quality standards, and productivity to ensure key performance indicators and contractual obligations are consistently achieved. You'll support contract mobilisation projects, build strong client relationships, attend contract meetings, and help resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and effectively. You'll also monitor performance data, produce reports, manage stock and van inventory processes, oversee equipment and tool compliance, and help translate business objectives into operational success. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing technical expertise with people leadership and operational management.

Qualifications

• Valid domestic and/or commercial gas qualifications. As a minimum, successful candidates must have the following: CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1 (essential)
• Valid UK driving licence (essential)
• Previous practical experience in gas maintenance within a domestic capacity
• Proven supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally within the gas, utilities, maintenance, or housing sector
• Solid understanding of gas safety regulations and industry standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
• A professional and friendly attitude with the ability to forge strong relationships with both clients and tenants
