Job summary

Manpower Group (UK) in Doncaster is recruiting a Supervisor (Drainage) to oversee drainage installation and maintenance on-site, leading a team and ensuring safety standards. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and the ability to read engineering drawings, with outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

You will coordinate resources, liaise with engineers and clients, maintain records, and help procure materials to keep projects on schedule and within safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Proven drainage installation or maintenance experience with civil engineering projects.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Drainage or equivalent, or recognised industry certification.
  • Valid CSCS card and relevant health and safety certificates.
  • Strong leadership to supervise operatives and manage schedules.
  • Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate drainage installation and maintenance on-site.
  • Lead a team of drainage operatives, guiding training and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety legislation and environmental rules.
  • Plan daily work schedules, allocate resources and monitor progress.
  • Inspect sites for quality, safety and progress and address issues.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers and clients to meet requirements.
  • Maintain records of activities, materials used and safety documentation.
  • Assist in procuring materials and equipment for drainage projects.
  • Identify and resolve on-site technical issues to keep projects on track.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate drainage installation and maintenance projects on-site, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Manage and lead a team of drainage operatives, providing guidance, training, and support to optimise productivity and quality of work.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety legislation, company policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Plan daily work schedules, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor work quality, safety compliance, and progress, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project requirements are met efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of work activities, materials used, and safety documentation.
  • Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment necessary for drainage projects.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues on-site, providing practical solutions to keep projects on track.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in drainage installation, maintenance, or related civil engineering disciplines.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Drainage or equivalent, or a recognised industry certification.
  • Valid CSCS card and other necessary health and safety certifications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise operatives effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  • Technical proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adapt to changing project requirements.
