Job summary

Strata Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join the Environment Team, focusing on drainage design, flood risk assessment and hydraulic modelling to deliver high-quality projects.

You'll work on a range of schemes from small tasks to multi‑million‑pound ventures, mentoring junior staff and collaborating with clients and external authorities, with CPD and chartership support.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Proficient in Micro Drainage, AutoCAD, PDS, HEC-RAS and Flood Modeller Pro.
  • Strong understanding of current technical standards and guidance.
  • Experience with 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling and report writing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Flood Risk Assessments and design sustainable drainage systems.
  • Produce technical reports and contribute to Section 104 and 106 agreements.
  • Prepare evidence for planning appeals and public enquiries.
  • Mentor junior staff and disseminate knowledge.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and external authorities.

Job description

We're seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our clients expanding team. As a key member of the Environment Team, you'll work towards chartered status and utilize your expertise in drainage design, flood risk assessment, and hydraulic modelling to deliver high-quality projects.

You'll be joining a well-established consultancy formed in the 80s and has remained independent from the start.

They work on range in size from small scale, one-off tasks, to large, multi-million-pound projects. They have particular expertise and experience in infrastructure master planning, 3D ground modelling, public transport facilities, highways, engineering traffic management schemes, pumping stations, sewerage, land drainage, flood defences, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS), car parks and utilities.

The role
