Job summary

VolkerHighways is seeking a Supervisor for the Highways Term Maintenance contract based at the Wokingham depot. The role involves leading in-house and subcontract teams to meet operational, financial, and contract targets.

You will oversee reactive and planned highway maintenance, ensure safety and quality, plan workloads, and coordinate resources while liaising with clients and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of construction management.
• Familiar with NEC forms of contract.
• CSCS certification is required.
• SSSTS certification preferred.
• First Aid training is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day delivery of reactive and planned highway maintenance works.
• Lead and support operational teams, providing guidance and performance management.
• Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, to specification and within budget.
• Plan workloads, allocate resources and coordinate labour, materials and traffic management requirements.
• Maintain accurate site records and contract documentation.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
• Support the wider management team and undertake additional duties as required.

We have the capability to deliver major surfacing and public realm infrastructure projects. Our specialist in-house traffic management division provides expert advice and support across the industry, whilst assisting with our own, in-house contracts.

About the role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Supervisor on our Highways Term Maintenance contract working out of our Wokingham depot. The role will require the individual to lead and coordinate both in-house and subcontract teams, to ensure projects meet operational, financial, and contract requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• Supervise day-to-day delivery of reactive and planned highway maintenance works.
• Lead and support operational teams, providing guidance, coaching and performance management.
• Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, to specification and within budget.
• Implement and monitor safe systems of work, conducting regular site inspections and safety briefings.
• Plan workloads, allocate resources and coordinate labour, materials, plant and traffic management requirements.
• Monitor quality standards, productivity and programme performance across all assigned works.
• Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, inspections, work updates and contract documentation.
• Manage stock levels, depot operations and the safe use of company vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
• Support the wider management team and undertake additional duties as required.

About you

You will need to ensure all work aligns with contract requirements and is carried out in full compliance with legal and safety standards. Other requirements include:
