Job summary

Gold Group is seeking a Supervising Electronics Engineer in Kyle of Lochalsh to join a specialist maritime defence environment. The role combines electronics engineering, instrumentation, fault finding, system integration and team supervision.

You will lead and coordinate a team of Electronics Engineers and Electronic Technicians while providing technical support across complex range systems. A senior-level candidate will mentor others and ensure safety, quality and compliance in all activities.

Qualifications

  • Significant electronics engineering experience within defence, maritime, industrial, telecommunications or a similar environment.
  • Previous experience supervising engineers, technicians or technical teams.
  • Experience managing technical work programmes and engineering activities.
  • Strong hands-on experience with electronic test equipment and fault finding.
  • Experience of system integration, testing and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of networked electronic systems and industrial control systems.
  • Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex electronic systems in an operational environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A structured approach to engineering, safety, quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Electronics Engineers and Electronic Technicians.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver technical work programmes across electronics systems.
  • Support the maintenance, development, testing and deployment of maritime range instrumentation.
  • Provide operational engineering support during maritime trials and range activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electronic and system faults.
  • Support system integration, testing and commissioning.
  • Work with telemetry, tracking, communications and data acquisition systems.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of underwater instrumentation and associated electronic systems.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, engineering reports, procedures and test documentation.
  • Manage technical activities from initial concept through to implementation and operational support.
  • Ensure engineering activities meet required quality, safety and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with internal engineering, operations and technical teams to ensure systems remain available and fit for purpose.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced engineers and technicians.

Job Title: Supervising Electronics Engineer

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Supervising Electronics Engineer to join a specialist maritime defence environment, supporting the operation, maintenance, development and deployment of sophisticated electronic systems used across underwater trials and maritime range activities.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining electronics engineering, instrumentation, fault finding, system integration and team supervision. You will lead and coordinate a team of Electronics Engineers and Electronic Technicians while providing technical support across complex range systems.

The role would suit an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer, Lead Electronics Engineer, Electronics Engineering Supervisor or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineer with a background in defence, maritime, industrial electronics, telecommunications or a similar technically demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise Electronics Engineers and Electronic Technicians.
