Job summary

Waitrose & Partners is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver to bring quality produce and partner-led service to customers' doors. You will support the shop with daily tasks when not out delivering, including stock replenishment and housekeeping. Applicants must be 18+ years old and hold a valid UK driving licence.

As a driver you will handle loading, route planning, and customer interaction, while adhering to safety practices and contributing to a friendly shop environment.

• Excellent customer service skills and ability to engage with customers politely.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily delivery routes and check routes for the day.
• Load and prepare the van, ensuring orders are complete for delivery to customers.
• Carrying out vehicle safety checks and maintain road compliance and safety.
• Represent the Waitrose brand with a positive, helpful attitude on every delivery.
• Assist customers with their shopping and build rapport through service.

About The Role

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll be bringing the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner-led service right to our customers’ doors. When you're not out on the road, you'll be back at the shop supporting the team with daily tasks like stock replenishment and housekeeping. Contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming team. Due to its nature, you need to be 18-years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Checking your delivery routes for the day.
• Loading and preparing your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered direct to customers.
• Ensuring all of the appropriate vehicle safety checks are complete on your van, maintaining full road compliance and health and safety.
• Being an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road with great customer service as your number one priority.
• Helping customers with their shopping and building a rapport with them based on trust and service.
• Supporting the wider shop team when required with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

• Full valid B-Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6-points.
• Great customer service skills.
• Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting of crates, walking up staircases, moving cages).

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Previous experience in a driving role and a knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed, however, we'll give you all of the training your need to perform at your best, everyday.
