Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver in Chester to bring Waitrose produce and Partner-led service to customers’ doors. When off the road you’ll assist in-store with daily tasks like stock replenishment and housekeeping, while upholding our ethos.

It’s a role for those aged 18+ and who enjoy working in a friendly team. You will drive, unload, and deliver with a customer-first mindset across your route, helping customers with their shopping and maintaining excellent service

Qualifications

• Full valid B-category UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong time management abilities.
• Able to cope with physical requirements (lifting crates, moving cages).
• Capable of independent, self-motivated work and adaptability.
• Basic IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Start in store and prepare for deliveries.
• Load and prepare van and ensure orders are grouped for delivery.
• Perform vehicle safety checks and comply with health and safety.
• Represent the Waitrose brand with high customer service on the road.
• Assist customers with shopping and build rapport based on trust.
• Support shop team with general in-store tasks when needed.

About the roleAs one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll be bringing the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner-led service right to our customers’ doors. Actively playing out our ethos - passionate Partners serving food lovers.

When you're not out on the road, you'll be back at the shop supporting the team with daily tasks like stock replenishment and housekeeping. Contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming team.Due to its nature, you need to be 18-years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll typically start your day in store and you’ll be responsible for:

• Checking your delivery routes for the day.
• Loading and preparing your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
• Ensuring all of the appropriate vehicle safety checks are complete on your van, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
• Being an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road with great customer service as your number one priority.
• Helping customers with their shopping and building a rapport with them based on trust and service.
• Supporting the wider shop team when required with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience you’ll need

• Full valid B-Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6-points.
• Great customer service skills.
• Time management skills.
• Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting of crates, moving cages).
• Comfortable working independently with the ability to be self motivated and adaptable.
• IT literate.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Previous experience in a driving role and a knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed.
