Job summary

RAC Motoring Services in the UK is seeking a Superflex Roadside Patrol to deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support. You’ll diagnose faults, repair on the roadside and support members to continue their journeys safely.

Working independently, you’ll handle varied shifts across the week, including evenings and weekends, delivering excellent customer service while using the latest diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• or
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• and
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform mechanical roadside repairs.
• Provide vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support.
• Work across varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends.
• Deliver market‑leading service to RAC members.

Job description

As a Superflex Roadside Patrol within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You'll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely. Every shift brings different challenges, new locations and the opportunity to make an immediate impact when people need the RAC most.

This role is designed for technicians who can offer flexibility in support of member demand. You'll work a varied shift pattern that includes evenings, weekends and peak demand periods, helping us provide market-leading service when and where members need us most.

You'll combine technical expertise with exceptional customer service, using the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly and safely. You'll be trusted to make decisions, supported to develop your skills and equipped with everything you need to succeed.

Qualifications and Experience

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience
• or
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• and
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

£55,869.82 with a realistic OTE of £63,200 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with opportunities to earn more through enhanced rates and additional shifts.

A role built for flexible technicians - averaging 40 hours per week across days, evenings, weekends and peak demand periods. Shifts are driven by member demand and can fall between 6am and 2am, with rostered days confirmed 7 days in advance and working hours confirmed 3 days ahead.

A structured development programme with hands-on learning, ongoing support and the opportunity to achieve accreditation through the motor industry's professional body, the IMI.

Strong base pay - £55,869.82 with a realistic OTE of £63,200 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable)
