American Express is offering a 10-week Software Engineer Intern program in Greater London. You’ll join Agile teams, build software, and learn how products are designed, developed, tested, and delivered in a global enterprise environment.

Work with frontend, backend, cloud, and AI-focused teams, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating across product and engineering partners. This internship emphasizes growth, mentorship, and real-world project impact.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in one or more of Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, Go, Kotlin or similar languages.
• Familiar with modern software development practices, version control, testing, and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Discover and apply new technologies to real-world business challenges.
• Contribute to an Agile scrum team by developing, testing, and improving software applications.
• Write clean, maintainable code; participate in code reviews; and create unit tests with coaching from experienced engineers.
• Explore AI-powered developer tools and ML concepts while learning to build software securely and at scale.
• Partner with Product Managers, Senior Engineers, and Architects to understand requirements and deliver value.
• Build confidence working across APIs, services, and cloud platforms.
