Job summary

Coventry Public Schools of RI seeks a substitute per diem bus (van) driver to transport Coventry school students on designated routes. Daily pre- and post-trip inspections, fueling, and interior cleanliness are required. Drivers must attend safety meetings as needed and maintain compliance with all licensing requirements.

The position is full-time? No—substitute per diem role with DOT and driving requirements. Immediate starting date and local Rhode Island posting.

Qualifications

• 21 years old, active driver’s license for 3 years, clean driving record for 3 years
• Medical Certification card (Renewed Annually or if 65 and older every 6 months)
• BCI
• Chauffeur's license
• Take and pass the Pupil Transportation Vehicle Test written test
• Meets all other DOT Licensing Requirements to transport students
• At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.

Job Description: In this role, employees will be operating a van over designated routes and transporting Coventry School Students back and forth from home to school. Drivers will do a pre and post inspection of the vehicle daily. Drivers will fuel and maintain cleanliness of the inside of the vehicle. Attend and participate in safety meetings as needed.

Job Requirements

• School Department Responsibilities:
  Provide a letter of support to the DMV for employees
  Arrange for a physical at predetermined location to obtain the DOT Medical Certification card
  Arrange for the employee to take the written test at the DMV
  Provide the employee with the written test manual and practice test
  Provide the vehicle GU1338 insurance document
  Provide vehicles that have passed the state required safety inspection
  Reimburse employee for all fees related to securing the required license
