Job summary

Linkit Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a substation project in Luton. The role requires a valid National Grid ticket and hands-on installation and fitting on site. The project starts 19 October 2026 and runs for a minimum of 6 weeks with 10-hour days, Monday to Friday, in an 11 on/3 off rotation.

Qualifications

• Experienced Mechanical Fitter with substation site exposure.
• Must hold a valid National Grid ticket.
• Telehandler ticket would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical fitting and installation work on site.
• Assist with installation, positioning and assembly of mechanical equipment.
• Operate a telehandler to move materials around site.
• Follow site lifting procedures and health and safety regulations.
• Work with other trades to complete work safely and efficiently.
