Job summary

SSE is seeking an Asset Technology Standards Engineer to shape substation control systems, developing standards for RTUs, protections and telecontrol, with a focus on secure-by-design solutions to support a smarter, more resilient electricity network.

The role encompasses equipment selection, testing and configuration across RTUs and automation, with technical leadership across projects and adherence to cyber security and regulatory requirements, on a 16-month fixed-term contract with flexible

Qualifications

• Experience designing, configuring and commissioning substation control systems.
• Strong OT knowledge including RTUs and substation automation.
• Hands-on experience with industry-standard control equipment.
• Experience producing engineering schematics and technical drawings.
• Solid understanding of cyber security and protection schemes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical standards for substation control systems.
• Design, test and approve OT solutions and configurations.
• Lead test plans and equipment evaluation for approvals.
• Apply cyber security and NIS requirements to OT systems.
• Provide technical leadership across projects and stakeholders.
