Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse for the SMS team at HMP Onley, a category C men's prison. The role covers substance misuse clinics in prison healthcare, some wing work and primary care duties. It is full time at 37.5 hours on a four-week rolling rota including weekends and bank holidays.

You will require current NMC registration and experience with opiate-dependent patients, plus RCGP 1 or a commitment to take it. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration, Adult or Mental Health.
• RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse, or willingness to undertake it.
• Experience with opiate-dependent patients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical and psychosocial substance misuse treatment in group and 1-1 settings.
• Carry out comprehensive assessments and initiate and review individual recovery plans.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop individualised packages of care.
• Monitor responses to medication and side effects, liaising with prescribers.
• Provide advice and information to individuals on a 1-1 basis.
• Communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
• Support group work and clinical interventions with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners.
• Undertake primary care duties alongside substance misuse work.
• Work on the prison wings as required.
• Occasionally support dispensing.
