Job description

Substance Misuse Case Manager - Open Access

Location: Doncaster

This is a Permanent, Full-Time vacancy that will close in 12 days at 11:59 BST.

The Vacancy

The Alcohol & Drug Service (ADS) is a registered charity that has been transforming the lives of people affected by drugs and alcohol misuse for over 40 years.

Aspire is a partnership between ADS and Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH). It combines the strengths of both NHS provision under the leadership of a consultant with the strengths of the voluntary sector provided by ADS. The partnership has worked together for over 20 years providing Drug and Alcohol Services to our local communities. It is a forward-thinking and innovative partnership that works closely with the recovery communities it serves to provide flexible, responsive services which offer the best possible outcomes for its service users and the community it serves.

It is a very exciting time to be working in the drug and alcohol field with significant new career opportunities being created.

The Open Access and Assessment (OAT) team provides advice and brief interventions, some structured key working, assessments, and a needle exchange service to people entering the treatment system.

If you have relevant experience in the substance misuse field, a relevant degree (e.g., psychology, sociology, social work) or Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, and L3 Tackling Substance Misuse or equivalent, we would like to hear from you.

If you are experienced in the field but do not have the formal qualifications, we provide a comprehensive package of accredited qualifications, and for newly qualified Social Workers, we support the ASYE programme.

To arrange an informal discussion with Claire Beevers or Stephen Mitchell, contact Tel: 03000 213900.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to hold a valid Right to Work in the UK; unfortunately, we are unable to support sponsorship visas.

In return, ADS is offering:

  • Salary: £25,905 - £31,611 depending on experience.
  • Generous annual leave: 29 days annual leave per annum, rising to 31 after 2 years’ service and 34 after 5; plus, Public Holidays.
  • Health Scheme.
  • Training opportunities in line with the personalised learning and development plan.
  • Joining ADS at a time of exciting and fast-growing change.

Working at ADS is more than a job; it’s an investment of time to make a difference to the lives of people with substance misuse issues and their families.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

The ADS is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity. We promote the fair and equal treatment of potential and existing employees and service users.

About ADS

For over 30 years, we have delivered effective interventions in towns and cities. We’ve helped thousands of local people on the road to recovery across Humberside, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire, as we help the national strategy on a local basis.

The Alcohol & Drug Service is a charity (Registered Charity 1108595; and a Company Limited by Guarantee, Company No. 05375809). The majority of our funding comes through contracts with statutory commissioners such as Local Authorities and the NHS, but we receive valuable income from charitable grants and individual fundraising efforts which support many of our most innovative services. We are governed by a Board of Trustees.

We ensure that the organisation is run well and we are a part of the Investors in People scheme, a quality framework which is independently audited. We currently hold the Silver award.

But, even though we’ve been transforming the lives of people affected by drugs or alcohol misuse for over 30 years, some people may not have heard of us. This is because we always work in partnership and often deliver our services and projects which have their own names/identities.

Our Values

We believe that honesty underpins all that we do. We seek to improve our services and in order to identify lessons, we must be honest with ourselves regarding our performance.

We believe that trust is the foundation of an effective partnership approach and that partnership is the defining characteristic of our relationship with service users, employees, and those who purchase services from us.
