Job summary

Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton is seeking a Subject Lead in Religious Education to drive teaching practice, raise standards and monitor progress for RE across the Academy, with emphasis on SEND and disadvantaged students.

You will lead curriculum development and ensure ICT, literacy, numeracy are reflected in lessons, while fostering high aspirations and excellent classroom practice across all cohorts.

Qualifications

• Proven success in teaching Religious Education up to A Level standard.
• Outstanding teaching and learning practices with day-to-day application.
• Qualified Teacher Status with BA or above in a relevant subject.
• Commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop RE teaching across the Academy.
• Develop teaching so that all students achieve their individual potential.
• Monitor the progress of all students within the subject area against their targets.
• Raise standards of student attainment and achievement in Religious Education.
• Drive the continuous and consistent Trust-wide focus on raising achievement and improving student outcomes.
• Organise intervention support in the Religious Education department.
• Ensure that all students can access a richer curriculum in Religious Education through extra-curricular activities.
• Help raise the aspirations of students in Religious Education and in the Academy.
• Ensure that ICT, Literacy, Numeracy, and subject specialism(s) are reflected in the teaching/learning experience of students.
• Adapt practice to meet the needs of all students in your classroom, including SEND, disadvantaged and EAL.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and to encourage good practice regarding punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.
