Job summary

Cottenham Village College in Cambridge is seeking an exceptional Head of Religious Education to lead and develop the RE department. This role offers a 0.6 FTE permanent contract (3 days per week) with a salary in the MPS-UPS range plus a TLR2D.

The successful candidate will shape a knowledge-rich curriculum, raise attainment, and inspire scholars while collaborating across Astrea Academy Trust. Experience in leadership and a commitment to inclusive teaching are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Degree in Religious Education or related subject.
• Proven teaching track record with strong outcomes.
• Experience leading or mentoring within a department.
• Excellent subject knowledge and knowledge-rich curriculum delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Religious Education department.
• Raise standards of attainment across all year groups in RE.
• Design and refine a knowledge-rich RE curriculum.
• Coach and develop colleagues within the department.
• Monitor progress and use assessments to inform teaching and intervention.
• Ensure high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the department.
• Develop resources and schemes of learning to support outcomes.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and academy policies are followed.
