Job summary

METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking a Subcontracts Supervisor to join the EGL1 Contracts & Commercial department in the Thermal Power & HVDC division, based in Newcastle. The role focuses on drafting, negotiating, and administering contracts, while coordinating with legal and project teams to maximize commercial benefits.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in a relevant field and 5–10 years' experience in contracts management within EPC/construction/energy projects, with strong NEC/FIDIC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree asset).
• 5–10 years of contracts management experience in EPC/construction/energy/infrastructure projects, with subcontractor contracts.
• Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and administering subcontracts including variations, claims and disputes.
• Solid understanding of NEC, FIDIC or equivalent contracts and commercial terms in large projects.
• Full subcontract lifecycle management from tender to close-out.
• Strong commercial risk management and cost control knowledge.
• Experience in multinational, cross-functional project environments.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and administer contracts to ensure compliance and maximize commercial benefits.
• Manage schedule performance and progress measurement from quantitative and qualitative views.
• Handle multiple subcontractors and coordinate with site teams on interfaces.
• Ensure contract compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in energy sector.
• Support project leadership in contract execution, amendments, and close-out.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks to prevent disputes and losses.
• Monitor performance and ensure adherence to obligations, timelines and deliverables.
• Handle claims, variations, and dispute resolution with Senior Project Leadership.
