Job description

The Marine Sub Agent / Agent is an integral member of the VolkerTrenchlessSolutions Team; responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the marine department from work winning to project delivery. The role requires professionalism and responsibility, maintaining good relations with clients, designers, site management, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Producing programmes for tracking project progress and ensuring timely delivery.
  2. Maintaining drawing registers and supporting project cost tracking.
  3. Requesting task orders for design work and assisting with RAMS and paperwork related to hire and sale jobs.
  4. Supporting the commercial team with cost evidence and invoice checks.
  5. Keeping accurate records and supporting document maintenance in line with QA procedures.
  6. Supporting health and safety compliance, including RAMS, COSHH assessments, and ensuring subcontractor standards.

Qualifications and experience required:

  1. Previous experience in heavy civils projects, preferably marine sector, including jack-up barge operations, vessel operations, dredging, piling, diving, and steel fabrication.
  2. Experience as a temporary works supervisor/coordinator, with the ability to identify and draft temporary works requirements.
  3. Experience managing lifting operations; Appointed Person qualification is preferred but not essential.
  4. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp; degree/HNC in civil engineering or equivalent.
  5. Ability to challenge design and manage change events; site-based role with potential offshore work.
  6. Valid driver’s license, CSCS card, SMSTS; marine knowledge desirable.
  7. Minimum 3-5 years site experience in civil engineering; successful ICE attributes achievement.
