Job summary

RTL Group Ltd in Oxford is recruiting an experienced Sub Agent to oversee a major civil engineering bulk earthworks package on a long-term project.

The role involves supporting the Site Agent, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress and ensuring high-quality, safe delivery in line with project specifications. Strong communication and CSCS/SMSTS qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sub Agent within civil engineering.
• Strong background in bulk earthworks.
• Experience on major infrastructure/highways projects preferred.
• Understanding of construction programmes and site delivery.
• Excellent communication and management skills.
• CSCS/SMSTS or equivalent site qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support the Site Agent with day-to-day delivery of the bulk earthworks package.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major civils project in Oxford, overseeing a significant bulk earthworks package.

This is a fantastic long-term opportunity offering 12 months of work, with an immediate requirement for an experienced Sub Agent to join the project from 24th August 2026.

The Role

• Supporting the Site Agent with the day-to-day delivery of the bulk earthworks package
• Managing and coordinating site activities and subcontractors
• Monitoring progress, productivity and programme requirements
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications
• Liaising with engineers, site management, subcontractors and the wider project team
• Monitoring quality and ensuring works are completed to the required standards
• Assisting with planning, sequencing and coordination of earthworks operations
• Maintaining site records and reporting progress to senior management

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Sub Agent within civil engineering
• Strong background in bulk earthworks
• Experience working on major infrastructure, highways or large-scale civils projects preferred
• Strong understanding of construction programmes, sequencing and site delivery
• Excellent communication and management skills
• Relevant CSCS / SMSTS or equivalent site qualifications
• Ability to work effectively within a large project team
