Job summary

Sumo Digital Ltd's Lab42 team is seeking a Technical Director to set the engineering vision and strategy for Lab42. You will influence senior studio management, define coding standards, and guide development practices across projects, including collaboration with other Sumo studios.

The role leads and grows the code team, mentors Lead Programmers, and drives engineering quality and delivery. You’ll work with C++/C#, Unreal and Unity, and champion AI adoption.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in the gaming industry at Technical Director or senior lead level.
• Ability to communicate engineering vision, status and risk to senior stakeholders.
• Experience delivering on console, PC and mobile game projects.
• Consultative approach across the studio to influence and deliver multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Set engineering vision, technical strategy and direction for Lab42.
• Define coding standards and development methodologies across the studio.
• Collaborate with other Sumo studios to align technical practices and AI adoption.
• Drive engineering delivery for projects, delegating to Lead Programmers and guiding effort.
• Lead, develop and mentor the code team, supporting recruitment and growth.
• Champion AI adoption across the studio and modern engineering practices.
