Job summary

Sumo Digital is seeking a results-driven product thinker to join Lab42. You will generate strategic insights to influence game pitches, development directions, and broader studio priorities, while applying AI tools to accelerate concept development and early-stage work.

You’ll analyse game data to inform backlog decisions, prioritise features, and present recommendations to cross‑functional teams; you’ll act as a bridge between external clients and internal teams, ensuring momentum across

Qualifications

• Experience in games industry in game design, product management, or live operations.
• Strong understanding of the games market, trends, and player behaviours.
• Ability to turn data and insights into opportunities and product improvements.
• Experience backlog management in a development environment; publishing experience desirable.
• Practical use of prioritisation frameworks (e.g., ICE, Jobs to Be Done).
• Experience combining qualitative and quantitative insights to understand players' needs and motivations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management, with proposal presentation experience.

Sumo’s Lab42 team is currently working on multiple exciting projects, across a number of game engines and platforms, using cutting‑edge technologies to deliver premium quality solutions for our wide variety of clients. Responsibilities

• Generate insights to inform game pitches, game development, and general strategy.
• Apply AI tools to advance early-stage development - build on initial requirements to produce well‑developed concepts, wireframes, and supporting research.
• Analyse game data and use it to structure your arguments and suggestions, and to prioritise a backlog of work.
• Pitch and promote your strategy within a cross‑disciplinary team.
• Act as a stakeholder between external and internal team, presenting and pitching work to both customers and colleagues.
• Regularly report game performance from prototype to sunset.
• Work across multiple projects at any given time, switching between different priorities and contexts while maintaining momentum and delivery quality.

Requirements

• Experience within the games industry in disciplines such as game design, product management, or live operations.
• Strong understanding of the games market, including current market trends, player behaviours, and emerging opportunities.
• The ability to use data and insights to identify opportunities, drive product improvements, and measure impact.A proactive, evidence‑based approach to problem solving, with the confidence advocate for recommendations supported by evidence.
• Experience managing and prioritising backlogs within a development environment; publishing experience is desirable.
• Practical experience applying prioritisation frameworks (e.g., ICE, Jobs to Be Done) to support effective backlog management and decision‑making.
• Experience combining qualitative and quantitative insights to develop a comprehensive understanding of player behaviours, needs, and motivations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience developing concepts and presenting proposals.
• Pragmatic and outcome‑focused approach to delivery, balancing business value, user needs, and resource constraints.
