Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Welfare Officer for a supportive school in Dudley. You will support students' welfare, monitor attendance and work with staff to address concerns affecting wellbeing and engagement.

You will promote safeguarding, confidentiality and consistent application of school policies, helping create a safe, inclusive environment where students can thrive. An ASAP start is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school, pastoral, welfare or safeguarding-related role.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Caring, calm and approachable manner when working with students.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, or willingness to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support to students experiencing welfare or pastoral difficulties.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality, following up on concerns where necessary.
• Record and report safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly.
• Liaise with teachers, senior staff, parents and external agencies when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Help promote positive behaviour, student engagement and a supportive school environment.
