Job summary

Landau Forte College Derby seeks a College Counsellor to provide high-quality emotional and welfare support to students aged 11–18. The role works closely with safeguarding leads and pastoral staff to maintain welfare standards.

You will deliver individual and group counselling, manage volunteers, and collaborate with CAMHS and other services. A BACP accreditation and term-time working conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• Punctual, reliable, flexible and hardworking.

• Demonstrates effective communication skills.
• Excellent personal organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Offer counselling and support to students on emotional and academic issues.
• Deliver therapeutic group sessions on relevant topics.
• Conduct student assessments using RCADs and Adolescent Wellbeing Scale.
• Train Peer Mentors and supervise mentees.
• Recruit and manage volunteer counsellors for 1:1 support.
• Oversee caseload for external therapy sessions.
• Liaise with safeguarding leads, heads of year and tutors as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow data protection.
