Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastoral Lead to join a secondary school in Dorchester. The role supports students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and personal development, working with students, families, teachers and the pastoral team.

The ideal candidate has pastoral or student-support experience, strong communication and safeguarding knowledge, and an ability to build positive relationships with young people.

Qualifications

  • Pastoral or student-support experience in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong safeguarding and wellbeing knowledge.
  • Calm, approachable and consistent in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day pastoral support to students.
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour and engagement.
  • Identify students who may require additional support.
  • Work with families and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Support behaviour and attendance improvement strategies.
  • Contribute to safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and pastoral documentation.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders.
  • Support students in developing confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
