Job summary

Star Academies is seeking a dedicated pastoral support professional to actively engage students and support their learning journey. You will lead a year-group pastoral programme, support individual students and families, and work to remove barriers to learning to help pupils reach their potential.

You will also provide cover for lessons and registrations, and help maintain positive relationships with students and staff while contributing to a safe and inclusive school environment.

Qualifications

• Lead and deliver pastoral support to a year group and to individual students.
• Address barriers to learning to help students reach their full potential.
• Improve punctuality, attendance and behaviour and support the pastoral programme.
• Support smooth transition from other schools and welfare on entry.
• Provide cover for lessons, registrations, invigilation or supervision for up to 12 periods per week.
• Experience of working with young people in an education setting.
• Experience of providing pastoral support within an education setting.
• The ability to maintain positive relationships with students and adults.
• The ability to speak in front of large groups and staff.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for managing and addressing the needs of students who need help to overcome barriers to learning.
• Support improvement of student punctuality, attendance and behaviour.
• Assist the school’s pastoral programme in reducing disruption and raising student achievement and progress.
• Contribute to effective transition from other schools ensuring student well-being on entry.
• Provide cover support for lessons, registration, invigilation, intervention or supervision of students not in normal lessons for up to 12 periods a week.
