Job summary

Minehead Middle School in Minehead is seeking a dedicated Student Welfare Officer to safeguard and promote the welfare, personal development and wellbeing of all students. You will work with students, families, staff and external agencies to identify needs early and provide targeted support to remove barriers to learning.

Role: Student Welfare Officer

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Grade 4 (point 7 -10) £27,724 - £28 608 (Full time equivalent)

Term Time plus 5 INSET days + up to 5 additional working days during the school holidays by mutual agreement

Hours: 37 hours per week 0830 – 1640 – Monday – Friday

Purpose of the role:

The Student Welfare Officer plays a vital role in safeguarding, supporting, and promoting the welfare, personal development, and overall wellbeing of all students. Working proactively with students, families, staff, and external agencies, the postholder ensures early identification of need, delivers targeted interventions, and contributes to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment.

The Student Welfare Officer is a key member of the inclusion team, acting as a lead professional for identified students and providing high quality welfare support that removes barriers to learning, improves attendance, and supports emotional, social and academic progress.
