Job summary

Dorset Council UK is seeking a casual Student Welfare Assistant to join Poole High School's welfare team. You will provide first aid, support safeguarding, and assist with student wellbeing.

Responsibilities include administering medication with parental consent, recording care in Arbor, notifying parents of incidents, and using general IT skills to keep records. The role suits a proactive communicator with literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.

Qualifications

• Have a first aid qualification (or be happy to complete a course).
• General IT skills with some Arbor or similar MIS experience.
• Literacy and numeracy skills at a general level.
• Experience in writing reports.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative.

• Provide first aid to students and staff as required, and directing to hospital when necessary.
• Issue prescribed or OTC medications with parental/guardian authorisation.
• Record treatment details in Arbor profile and day book.
• Notify parents of medical conditions or accidents in school.
• Promote safeguarding and welfare in line with policies.

Job description

We are looking to appoint a casual Student Welfare Assistant to join our busy welfare team at Poole High School.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

• Treat students/staff with first aid care when required. Sending people home or to hospital when necessary, within the guidelines of “First Aid at Work” training and also regulations stipulated by the Health Protection Agency.
• Issue prescribed medication or general “over the counter” medication only with the authorisation of the parent or legal guardian.
• Record details of all treatment or care provided to students into their Arbor personal profile and the day book.
• Notify parents of student medical condition/accidents in school as necessary.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who We Are Looking For
