Job summary

Poole High School is seeking a casual Student Welfare Assistant to join the welfare team. The role focuses on caring for students, administering first aid, and recording incidents in Arbor MIS.

The successful candidate will have a first aid qualification (or be willing to complete one), and possess basic IT literacy, good literacy and numeracy, and strong communication skills to liaise with students, staff and parents.

Qualifications

  • Have a first aid qualification (or happy to complete a course).
  • General level IT skills with some experience of Arbor or similar management information system.
  • General level of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience of writing reports.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Treat students/staff with first aid care when required. Sending people home or to hospital when necessary, within the guidelines of First Aid at Work training and Health Protection Agency regulations.
  • Issue prescribed medication or general over-the-counter medication only with authorisation of the parent or guardian.
  • Record details of all treatment or care provided to students into Arbor personal profile and the day book.
  • Notify parents of student medical condition/accidents in school as necessary.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with safeguarding policies.

We are looking to appoint a casual StudentWelfare Assistant to join our busy welfare team at Poole High School.

We are looking for an outstanding individual whowill relish the opportunity to:

  • Treat students/staff with first aid carewhen required. Sending people home or to hospital whennecessary, within the guidelines of “First Aid at Work” training andalso regulations stipulated by the Health Protection Agency.
  • Issue prescribed medication or general “over thecounter” medication only with the authorisation of the parent orlegal guardian.
  • Record details of all treatment or care provided tostudents into their Arbor personal profile and the day book.
  • Notify parents of student medical condition/accidentsin school as necessary.
  • Promote andsafeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with ourSafeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who we are looking for
