Job summary

CVS Vets’ County Veterinary Centre in Sandbach is seeking a Second Year Student Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated team. You’ll support RVNs and Vets in delivering compassionate care to small animals while gaining hands-on experience in a busy practice.

This fixed-term contract is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with Saturdays on a rota. Enrolment on a nursing programme is required, and you’ll benefit from a competitive salary in line with the National Minimum Wage, generous leave, and

• Excellent communication and empathy in interactions with clients and colleagues.
• Experience in public-facing roles and strong customer service mindset.
• Background in animal welfare and understanding of animal welfare needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients.
• Assist Vets and Nurses with animal restraint during treatments.
• Clean, walk, and feed patients; prepare emergency and operating facilities.
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties; run internal lab samples.
• Answer emergency calls and support the receptionist desk and appointment bookings.

Role Details:

Location: 30 Crewe Road, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 4NE

Contract: Fixed term Contract

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday on a varied shift pattern between the hours of 08.00 - 19.00 and Saturdays 08.30 - 14.00 on a rota basis

About the Role:

As a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN), you will play a critical role in our outstanding veterinary practice. You’ll support our team of qualified RVNs and Vets in delivering exceptional care to our patients, all while working alongside a fantastic team.

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Provide nursing care to patients
• Assist Vets and Nurses in animal restraint during treatments
• Clean, walk, and feed patients
• Prepare emergency and operating facilities
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties
• Run internal lab samples
• Answer emergency calls
• Cover the receptionist desk, including handling queries, booking appointments, and processing payments

Who We’re Looking For:

• Excellent communication skills with strong empathy
• Superior customer service abilities with experience in public interactions
• Background in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medication, and handling, with a deep-understanding of animal welfare needs
• Resilience and the capacity to handle distressing and emotional situations
• Positive attitude and stellar teamwork skills
• Experience in a veterinary environment is essential, as is enrolment onto a nursing programme
